The reason you would want to get a meter is so you can monitor how much wax comes out of the bottle because hot plate heat exchangers often measure in degrees F and P. Your melted wax will likely be below the boiling point of water when using a heat exchanger, so you will need to adjust the heat setting accordingly if you want your melted products to reach the proper temperature.

When using a melt-to-pour bowl, be careful. Some bowls have a design where the opening is only an inch wide. If your ingredients and your melt are not going to fit into the bowl, move the bowl closer to an open flame until it’s almost touching the flame.
Be sure the ingredients are completely mixed by the time the bowl is all the way open. Do not place the bowl near an open flame because the melt might absorb some of the heat and cause a problem.
Make sure you have enough oil to dip the soy wax sheets in before pouring them into the cup. Using petroleum based cooking spray or olive oil will be fine,
as long as you don’t add too much. You don’t want the oils in your food to mix with your wax melting mixture. If you add too much, the two ingredients may solidify and your candle will be ruined, no matter how beautiful it is.
After you have melted your wax, carefully pour it into your mold. Then stand back and watch as it hardens. Wait about half a year and then you can remove the mold and put it away for another purpose. Preparation
It is important to prepare the space before starting to melt the wax. Especially since handling wax can be quite messy! Make sure you have a clean, flat surface to work on and move anything you don’t want to wax. Also, make sure your shells are ready, as the process can go a lot faster than you initially expected. Weigh/measure the required wax. In this example, we use 100g.
Melting the wax
Empty the now measured wax into the heating pot. Heat the wax to 70 °C with gentle stirring. Do not exceed 80°C. It takes 10 to 15 minutes to melt. In this example, a glass bowl is placed in a pan half filled with water. Use a thermometer to keep accurate temperature readings.
Adding Colour
When the wax reaches 70°C, open the candle dye bag and empty it into the melted wax. Stir gently until all colors are dissolved and spread evenly. We recommend using 0.2%. So, a bag of 10 g of dye will color 5 kg of paraffin wax. Vegetable waxes may require higher loadings. (If using liquid candle dye, add a few drops at a time to get the color you want.)
Adding Fragrance
When the dye is completely dissolved, remove the wax from the heat and check the temperature regularly until the wax reaches 65 °C. When the wax reaches 65°C, open the perfume bottle and pour. Gently stir the wax while pouring the perfume. We recommend using up to 10% fragrance oil. So, 500ml of fragrance oil is directed at 5kg of wax.
Pouring
Now all the ingredients are mixed and the wax temperature is 60-65°C. Now it’s time to pour the wax. Pour the melted wax from the container into the pouring container. Slowly pour the wax into the melted mold. (If using paraffin wax and plastic wax melt molds, pour at 60°C. At higher temperatures the mold will melt and leak.) Wax melt should now be set up. Wait a few hours for them to harden and completely harden.
It is recommended to melt the wax and store it in a cool, dark place for about 1 hour. 2 weeks until ‘treatment’. However, this is not essential, so if you are very excited to melt after a few hours of hardening, that’s fine too!
